Domaine de Vigier

It was in 1975 that the beautiful story of the domaine de Vigier began its latest chapter, with Francis and Jacqueline Dupré buying 40 hectares of vines in Lagorce. In the 1990s, Stéphane and Gregory after their studies in agricultural school and specialisation in viticulture and oenology, joined their parents on the family estate.
Later, in the 2000s, Marjorie, their younger sister joined the fold while the parents started retiring from the day to day running of the estate but never really left  entirely and are still present to guide and help when needed.

Today, the Domaine de Vigier is spread over two towns with around 60 hectares : Lagorce and Vallon Pont d'Arc. The size of the Estate is particular for the region and allows for large plots to work more efficiently. In addition to the 3 siblings, five people work there permanently, outside or in the cellar.

The wines are classified in either:
- AOP Côtes du Vivarais (PDO in English : protected designation of origin, label denoting specific knowhow and heritage for regional products throughout Europe)
- IGP Ardèche (PGI in English : protected geographical indication) denoting wines made in Ardèche with Ardèche grown grapes.

The Estate is certified Organic with the winery being in conversion since 2018 and already many cuvées sporting the organic label and the rest following suit.
Domaine de Vigier is also a member the French Independant Wineries, an association of like minded winemakers growing and harvesting their grapes, fermenting their harvest and making their wines on their own in their Estates.

The different cuvées each have a different personality, closely linked with the Ardèche terroir. They bear the name of each of Francis and Jacqueline's grandchildren.
These wines are often distinguished and regularly win medals in Wine competitions such as the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.

The Domaine is interested in promoting grapes from the Rhone Valley and Ardèche, Syrah and Grenache, blended together for AOP Côtes du Vivarais and Viognier that was re-established in Ardèche at the end of the 1980s that fully express their fruity and generous flavours for the white wines. This also goes goes for reds with pure Syrah wines that will amaze you.
