Cave de Tain

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche at the foot of the iconic Hermitage hill, Cave de Tain brings together four generations of passionate local winegrowers. Today, nearly 300 family growers tend over 1,000 hectares of vineyards, uniting deep regional roots with world-class expertise.

Terroir & Sustainability

Nestled along the steep granite terraces of the left and right banks of the Rhône River, the vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate that coaxes raw elegance and complexity out of two flagship grape varieties:

  • Syrah: The king of the Northern Rhône reds, delivering silky tannins, vibrant dark fruits, peppered spice, and brilliant balance.
  • Marsanne: The soul of their whites, offering rich honeyed notes, subtle floral aromatics, and striking mineral freshness.

As pioneers in eco-friendly viticulture, Cave de Tain was among the first in the region to achieve certified sustainable status (Vignerons Engagés) in 2009. Combining sustainable farming with organic plots, they focus on soil health, natural biodiversity, and precise plot selection to capture the purest expression of their land.
